This just in... 51 Peg was just invited to perform at Shift_2Nissan's Battle of the Bands this Saturday late afternoon/early evening. Get there no later than 5:45 to enjoy a FREE concert to warm you up for the full-length show later this same night at Midnight in DC. Who: 51 Peg
When: Saturday, November 11th, 2006 - on stage at 6 PM SHARP!

Details: The concert starts at 6pm sharp and is free to everyone! There will also be on-site voting for the bands. On-site votes will be added to the on-line votes for each bands total score for a nationwide battle of the bands. Come out and support us, bring as many people as you can! If you are 18 and over you can also register to test drive some cool new cars on a closed driving course. Register at the Nissan website. Don't forget to come out later this same night to Midnight in Washington DC. We'll be performing a full-length set and hope to see all of you locals there!

About Tempest:
Tempest is an artist, designer, dancer, and writer currently based in the Bay Area of California. Although she enjoys studying what tradition has to offer, Tempest loves exploring the dance through unusual music and creative costuming, pulling on her visual arts background to "paint a picture" with the dance; engaging the audience through dramatic embodied storytelling, passionate expression, and sensuous, mesmerizing movement. She finds inspiration for her dances in many eras, places, and faces, from ancient cultures and spiritual myths worldwide, to the work of silent film star and original vamp Theda Bara, and turn-of-the-century dance goddess Ruth St. Denis.
Tempest is most well-known for her Gothic Belly Dance performances and instruction, and is featured on the first ever GBD performance DVD produced by WorldDanceNewYork entitled "The Darker Side of Fusion" and is set to release "Bellydance for Beautiful Freaks", an instructional DVD, this fall.
About Sashi:
(on tour from Indiana to Washington, DC)
Sashi is a talented performer, instructor and choreographer based in Orange County, California. Sashi has been a student of dance for sixteen years. She began studying African Haitian and West African dance while a student at San Francisco State University. She went on to further her experience of African dance by studying Congolese and West African drumming. In the years following, Sashi found Middle Eastern dance to be the style she was most drawn to as it spoke to her Semitic roots and aesthetic interests. She has studied many forms of Middle Eastern dance including American Tribal Style Bellydance, Tribal Fusion Bellydance, Gothic Bellydance, Egyptian and Lebanese Cabaret Bellydance, Israeli and Turkish Debke, Saidi, and Nubian Folkloric dances.
She is most recognized for her alluring and dynamic performances of Gothic Tribal Fusion Bellydance and Improvisational Tribal Fusion Bellydance. Her provocative and ritualistic performances convey her talent for expressing herself through her dance. Inspired by the "Spirit of the Dance", Sashi views bellydance as the honoring of the divine feminine by creating spiritual and physical unions through movement. This is evident as her ability to cultivate the energy that this dance evokes is translated to each audience member with a look, a gesture, a presence that is unmistakably unique to Sashi and the dance.

After a nice break during the holidays we're ready to hit the stage at the Ottobar in Baltimore next weekend for our first show of 2006. This show is in support of Twenty Ripped Angel's CD Release Party on Saturday, January 14th. This is Twenty Ripped Angel's first Baltimore appearance in over a year, for their "Sincerely Yours" CD Release Party. This show kicks off the Killing Jar Records 'Spit On Pop Culture' U.S. tour - the Drowning Season will also be performing. We'll be celebrating Jeff's birthday too, so we hope to see all of you there!

WINTER UPDATES AND NEWS...WINDING DOWN 2005 & GEARING UP FOR 2006
As the year winds down, we'd like to thank all of you who came out to a show, bought a CD, sent us an email, wrote about us in an ezine, and were just good friends to us in general. We don't say it enough but we love all of you and your support means so much to us. We've been working on a new album this last half of 2005, and plan to really focus on finishing it as 2006 begins. If you haven't been out to a 51 Peg show, make 2006 your year to check us out - we'll do our best to make it worth your while. In fact go out and support live music as much as you can, it's what keeps all of us going.

We were lucky enough to have the very talented Nick Brown and friends come to our October 30th Halloween show at Sonar in Baltimore to film our performance. They've turned the footage into an awesome little video and and you can check it out here on Sonic Bids for your "viewing pleasure". We're quite pleased with it and hope you enjoy it too - send us some feedback, we'd like to hear what you think. Thank you Nick - you did an incredible job!
You may have noticed that our website is a bit lacking lately. Don't fret, this doesn't mean we're going anywhere soon, we are in the midst of revamping it and it should be launched early in the new year. For now, we have upcoming shows posted, as well as a link to MySpace, where you can find the most current, up-to-date information about what we're doing and where we'll be.
